Abingdon Prep Science & Sports Partnerships

Case Study Abingdon Prep (1)

Abingdon is one of the leading Prep schools in the country when it comes to running a partnership programme. Their projects offer opportunities to learn and share with other schools.

For example, local primary schools come in and do an hour of Science in the laboratory, with practical sessions include using microscopes, Bunsen burners and electrical circuits.

These activities focus on equipment the primary schools are less likely to have.

There is a key focus on young children, learning how to collaborate and be part of a community, as well as establishing long term sustainable relationships.

An example is the sports partnership between Abingdon Prep and Hagbourne Primary School, where students learned to play rugby side by side. This initiative is run in partnership with Abingdon School, whose Director of Rugby and Sixth Form rugby players deliver the sessions.

‘Working with Abingdon Prep gives pupils the opportunity to have further enrichment in subjects which our small primary does not have the equipment or finances to facilitate’.

It was really fun playing with kids who we don’t normally play with. They were really fun and good!
